“True Religion” in a Modern World:
The Spiritual Theology of the Early Evangelicals
Trinity Theological College is honoured to have Professor Bruce Hindmarsh, James M Houston Professor of Spiritual Theology and Professor of the History of Christianity at Regent College, Vancouver, to be the principal scholar for its inaugural TTC Trinity Symposium and Public Lecture Series.
The Trinity Symposium is a three-day academic conference where the principal scholar will present three papers, and each paper will be followed by a response.
For the symposium, Professor Hindmarsh will explore three key spiritual-theological questions from the point of view of various early evangelical writers:

What does it meant to begin well in the spiritual life?
Dr Hindmarsh’s lecture will be followed by a response from Dr Roland Chia (TTC).
Tue 25 Aug 2026 | 2–4pm
PERFECTION
What does the spiritual life look like in its consummation?
The lecture will be followed by a response from Rev Dr Wilfred Ho (TTC).
Wed 26 Aug 2026 | 9–11am
DISCERNMENT
How do we know that our spiritual experience is authentic?
The lecture will be followed by a response from Dr Tan Seng Kong (BGST).

Professor Hindmarsh will also be delivering a public lecture entitled Resourcing Reformation and Evangelical Spirituality
for the Church Today on Mon 24 Aug 2026 from 7.30–9.30pm at the TTC Chapel.
