Hair for Hope 2016

This is my first time participating in Hair for Hope – the only head shaving event in Singapore that serves to raise funds and childhood cancer awareness by the Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF). I only considered joining it when I was challenged to do so by the Mission and Evangelism Committee at Trinity Theological College (TTC). I am really grateful for the opportunity to be part of this initiative. God indeed calls us to show compassion to the afflicted, as Jesus Himself did. Hence, twelve of us – a group consisting of lecturers, staff, students, alumni and friends of TTC – headed down to Vivocity on Saturday, 30th July to get our heads shaved bald. I am deeply inspired by the two ladies on our team who made the bold statement to join Hair for Hope too. It was very encouraging to see hundreds, maybe even thousands, of people there to get their heads shaved. I felt happy after going bald, knowing that we are showing Christian love and solidarity to those suffering from cancer.

Till date, we have raised over $12 000 as a college. I am thankful for the donors who have supported us and had given generously to the Children’s Cancer Foundation. My prayer is that we as a Christian community will continue to bring hope to those battling cancer.
