In our contemporary world of religious diversity, how should Christians and the Church respond to the other faiths? Dr Tan Loe Joo presented an open lecture on 27 Sep 2016 to mark the publication of his book on this topic, which is part of the ETHOS Engagement Series aimed at addressing relevant issues to the church and society from a biblical and theological perspective.
Dr Lim Teck Peng was invited by Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary to present a paper, entitled “The Fashioning of Christian Agency: An Educational Reflection in the Light of the Rise of Civil Society in Asia.”
Simon Chan spent two weeks (23 May to 3 June) teaching an intensive course “An Introduction to the Theology and Practice of Worship” to a group of thirty eager M.Min. students at the Institute of Bible and Theology. These are pastors specially selected by the leadership of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (South) to undergo enhanced training for future leadership.
From May 23 to June 3 of this year, Dr Jeffrey Truscott taught a course on sacramental theology at East China Theological Seminary, near Shanghai. Based on his book, The Sacraments: A Practical Guide (Christian World Imprints, 2016), the lectures covered the history, theology, and practice of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
Rev Dr Leonard Wee was recently granted a postdoctoral research fellowship by the Langham Partnership (a ministry founded by the late Rev John Stott in UK). It is a four-year programme with partial financial support from TTC.
