From May 23 to June 3 of this year, Dr Jeffrey Truscott taught a course on sacramental theology at East China Theological Seminary, near Shanghai. Based on his book, The Sacraments: A Practical Guide (Christian World Imprints, 2016), the lectures covered the history, theology, and practice of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. The students were those in the Bachelor of Divinity programme, most of whom are preparing for ministry in churches of the China Christian Council.

A highlight of the course was a demonstration in the seminary dining hall on how to make whole-wheat communion bread, which managed to arouse the curiosity of students not taking Dr Truscott’s course!

During the course lectures, ECTS faculty member and TTC alumna Ms Zhou Yong Ci served as his interpreter. Ms Zhou teaches courses on liturgy at the seminary, and serves as the school’s choral conductor.
