Dr Roland Chia speaks at the Holy Week Convention of the English Presbytery of The Presbyterian Church of Singapore

From Wed–Fri 16–18 Apr 2025, the English Presbytery of The Presbyterian Church of Singapore held a series of Holy Week services focusing on the theme The Meaning of the Cross. The messages were delivered by Dr Roland Chia, who guided congregants through three services of thoughtful and theological reflections on the significance of the Cross in the Christian faith.

The first two services took place at the newly built ARPC@Tengah sanctuary. On Holy Wednesday, Dr Chia spoke on The Revelation of the Cross, exploring how the Cross reveals both the character of God and the nature of human sin. On Maundy Thursday, his sermon, titled The Victory of the Cross, focused on the triumph of Christ’s death and the hope it brings to believers.

The series concluded with the Good Friday service held at Suntec Convention Hall, where Dr Chia preached on The Challenge of the Cross. In this final message, he emphasised the cost of discipleship and the call to live in the light of Christ’s sacrifice. The Good Friday service saw an encouraging turnout, with approximately 4,000 people in attendance.
