And the winner is … everyone!

On 1st March 2019, the bi-annual Inter-College Sports Day held at Choa Chu Kang stadium kicked off with great zeal and the deafening cheers coming from the various seminaries contributing to the lively atmosphere. Representatives from Baptist Theological Seminary (BTS), Discipleship Training Centre (DTC), East Asia School of Theology (EAST), Singapore Bible College (SBC) and Trinity Theological College (TTC), participated in various sports such as men’s soccer, men’s captain’s ball and women’s captain’s ball. An 8x50m relay roused the crowd to their feet as both faculty and students ran towards the finishing line in their respective races. The event also featured other recreational games like kin-ball and a non-competitive walk around the track to facilitate interaction between colleges. The ice cream and fruits ensured a sweet and fun-filled, or rather stomach-filled, afternoon for both the sporty and non-sporty alike. Esther Peh, a second-year MDiv student, recounted that it was “an afternoon where all that we’ve learnt in textbooks about brotherly love, grace, kindness, and the unity of Christ’s Church came alive on the courts.”  Although TTC walked away victorious, having emerged women’s captain’s ball team champions, men’s captain’s ball runners-up and retained their crown for the second year running in men’s soccer, participants from all five seminaries were winners because of the siblinghood we share in Christ and in our common purpose to equip and be equipped for God’s service.   Aptly so, the sports day concluded with a group photo in the shape of a cross on the field symbolising that while we are from different colleges, we are part of a larger community; the body of Christ. The passing of baton as event organiser from EAST meant that TTC would have to build upon the success of this year’s sports day.
