A Lament over My Unfair Bosses

Lord, it is not fair,
You put me in this situation.

I have been unfairly treated,
I thought you cared, you who are all-knowing and all-powerful.

They in power treat me with disdain, no appreciation and no regard
and they preach teamwork, what rubbish!

It is eating into my bones, this sense of injustice, of being unwanted,
I give up waiting for equity.

Won’t you deliver me from scorn?
Vindicate me, for you are my reward.

I followed the rules and did my best,
Far better than others have I complied with expectations.

Bless them with better appointments elsewhere,
Call them away with pressing family issues.

Why do these things never seem to afflict them?
Surely, you are omniscient and will return them their just desserts.

Alright, alright, I am reminded you have provided for me;
I acknowledge this when I am in my right mind.

I will learn to reflect on your ways
and be thankful and rest in you.
