Synopsis
This course will equip Christians with biblical foundations and skills for effective Christian counselling. Participants will consider a biblical view of humanity, how problems develop, how people change and grow, and the importance of the work of the Holy Spirit. Participants will learn a framework for the lay counselling journey and develop basic counselling skills in active listening and ways to provide helpful responses. The course will discuss what it means to provide a Christ-centred conversation, the role of prayer, and the use of Scripture. Practical ways to respond to common issues impacting one’s emotional, relational, and psychological health will be studied, with case examples on applying a biblical understanding to managing stress, anxiety, anger, grief, and relational conflicts.
