The TTC “Cleaning Contingent”

“Cleanliness is Indeed Next to Godliness”

Annual Campus Spring Cleaning 2016

John Wesley wrote, “Slovenliness is no part of religion. Cleanliness is indeed next to Godliness.” And so on Friday, 8th January 2016, TTC Family Groups of faculty and students set out to live up to Wesley’s adage, for if slovenliness is no part of religion, then more so it should not be part of a religious institution!

Spurred on too by our principal The Rev. Dr Ngoei Foong Nghian, we aspired to clean out every neglected nook and cranny, taking this annual opportunity to practise physically what we study daily – the cleaning out of our “abode” for the presence of the Almighty.

So for the next 2-3 hours, the TTC “Cleaning Contingent” descended upon the chapel, board and conference rooms, classrooms, library, plaza, dining hall, courtyard, futsal court, gardens, scholars’ and cluster lounges, stairways, corridors and walkways, attacking every corner with gusto! Hidden horrors behind pianos and shoe racks were discovered and promptly vanquished! Those who had finished their areas joined ranks with others who were still struggling to battle theirs.

And at the end of the day, happy “troops” gathered at the plaza to quench their thirst and share “war stories” of a conquest bravely fought, as once again, our annual campus spring cleaning drew to a close.
