Summer Course on Asian and Asian American Feminist Theologies

Rev Dr Maggie Low was a panelist in an online summer course organized by Pacific, Asian, and North American Asian Women in Theology and Ministry (PANAAWTM) in partnership with Candler Foundry at Candler School of Theology in Emory University, USA. The five-session course on Asian and Asian American Feminist Theologies was held in May-June 2021.

The course covered the emergence of feminist theologies, biblical studies on gender and class, Christian ethics and sexuality, interreligious learning and solidarity, and leadership and ministry. Dr Maggie Low presented an overview of Asian Feminist Biblical Studies, describing the three Asian hermeneutical lenses of community, cross-cultural context, and crisis in history. There were about 300 online participants, mainly from the Western world and some from Asia. Many, especially in Asia, expressed appreciation for Dr Low’s presentation.
