Students will gain an understanding of the historical development of Christianity in Asia as parallel and independent branches rather than as later developments to Western Christianity. Topics will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Journey to the East (Nestorianism)<\/li>\n<li>Christianity under Islamic rule and the Mongols<\/li>\n<li>Jesuit mission in Asia<\/li>\n<li>Protestant mission in 19th century Asia<\/li>\n<li>South Korea: A Christian success story?<\/li>\n<li>Christianity and Buddhism in Southeast Asia<\/li>\n<li>Christianity in Islamic Southeast Asia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Biodata<\/h3>\n<p>Rev Dr Chiang Ming Shun teaches Church History and Global Christianity at Trinity Theological College. He has a PhD from Cambridge and is fond of reading all\u00a0sorts of histories, military history included. He is an ordained minister with the Trinity Annual Conference (TRAC) of the Methodist Church in Singapore and has served as pastor in two churches and as chaplain in two schools.\u00a0He has been a pastor since 2000, currently attached to Kampong Kapor Methodist Church.
