On Tue 27 May 2025, 15 youth from The Presbyterian Church in Singapore’s Synod Training & Exposure Program (STEP) visited TTC. This was part of a three-week internship programme organised by the Synod to inspire and equip young Presbyterians to enter full-time ministry. Here is the reflection of one of the interns on the visit to TTC.<\/p>\n
“Overall, I had a pleasant experience at TTC. In the morning, we started off with a devotion about how widows were cared for in the early church and how God looked after the vulnerable.<\/p>\n
Afterwards, Rev Dr Leonard Wee, a Presbyterian minister who is also a TTC lecturer, delivered a lesson on eschatology. It was the first time that some of us were exposed to certain terms and it was indeed eye-opening, and de-mystifying at the same time. I learnt about the different views that people have on eschaton, as well as the main message of Revelations, that is to bring hope to Christians about the second coming of Jesus and our union with Him.<\/p>\n
During lunch in the spacious dining hall, we were hosted by other Presbyterian members of the TTC faculty, as well as current students from the Synod. It was a relaxing time chatting and learning more about ministry, theological education and life at TTC.<\/p>\n
Having had a simple but scrumptious lunch, we walked it off in a tour of the campus. Some highlights were their beautiful chapel, serene prayer garden, and the library (the largest theological library in Asia, we were told).<\/p>\n
The day ended with a theological lesson on Calvin and the Holy Spirit as we read through some parts of the Institutes of the Christian Religion<\/em>. The close of the day opened the door to more reflections and ruminations on the days\u2019 insights.<\/p>\n I had passed Hillview MRT station countless times, but never knew about the hard and heart work taking place at TTC.
