On the evening of the 26th of February 2016, St Peter\u2019s Hall (SPH) held a dinner event to celebrate the ministry of the Revd Canon Mervyn Moore and his wife, Dawn, who were preparing to return home to South Africa after spending two years in Singapore. Canon Moore served as the warden of St Peter\u2019s Hall, the hall within TTC that looks into the training and spiritual formation of Anglican students, from March 2014 to March 2016. This was Canon Moore\u2019s second term as warden of SPH. He previously served six months as warden in 2011.<\/p>\n
The event was attended by The Rt Revd Low Jee King, the Assistant Bishop and the Archdeacon of Singapore, TTC Principal Revd Dr Ngoei Foong Nghian and some faculty members, the new warden of SPH Revd Joseph Goh, and the 2 sub-wardens of SPH Revd Canon Dr Michael Poon and Revd Dr Pan Chou Wee, the wardens of other halls within TTC, current members of the SPH Community, SPH alumni, as well as close friends of Canon Moore and Dawn from his time as chaplain to The Mission to Seafarers in Singapore.<\/p>\n
There was an atmosphere of much joy and celebration during the night, as the community gathered, gave thanks to God and shared their fondest memories of Canon Moore\u2019s ministry at SPH and even his time at The Mission to Seafarers. From the words that were shared, it was evident that Canon Moore had impacted many lives for God during his years of ministry here in Singapore.<\/p>\n
As the night drew to a close, the event began to take on a slightly bittersweet tone. Though there was much to give thanks for and celebrate, and we were happy that Canon Moore and Dawn were finally able to return to South Africa to be with family and enjoy their retirement years, we were also sad to see them leave, as they are much loved by everyone and had become such a big part of our lives.<\/p>\n
From the SPH Community to Canon Moore: thank YOU for being you and for all that you have invested into each and every one one of us. In you, God has given us \u201cMoore than we could ever ask!\u201d<\/p>\n
