1. What is the entry requirement of MDiv/MTS?
Entry requirement of MDiv/MTS includes a basic degree from a recognized university (e.g. BSc, BA, etc.) Note: BD/MDiv/MTS students attend classes together and study the same curriculum. 2. What are the differences between the MDiv and MTS prgorammes?
The MDiv programme is a vocational programme to prepare men and women for full-time ministry in the church and world. The MTS programme is a non-vocational programme to help lay leaders and members to be better equipped to serve the church as laity. The BD/MDiv is a 3-year programme of 96 credit hours (29-3 credit hr courses (87 cr); one-2 credit hr course; 7 Field Education credits [5 placements + 2 seminars]). The MTS is a 2-year programme of 63 credit hours (3 credit hour course x 21 courses) and without the Field Education component. 3. Is it possible for international students using more than the minimum period to compete their studies?
For international students who are admitted on a student pass, they must complete their studies within the minimum time limit. Any extension must be approved by the College and subjected to, if necessary, the approval from the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority.
4. How many hours of lessons will there be a week for the students?
For BD/MDiv study, it will take a minimum of 3 years to complete. It means an average of 6 courses per semester (5 x 3credit hr/course + 1 Field Education credit = 16 credits; refer College Calendar on website). The maximum time is 7 years (14 semesters, each semester 2 to 3 courses, most courses are 3 credit hours), you would need another 5 to 6 hours approximately for studies and writing papers for each course; and also be involved in Spiritual Formation and Community Living programme whenever you are in College, and also on special College events such as the College Anniversary, Graduation Day, etc. For MTS study, it will take a minimum of 2 years to complete. It means 5 courses (5 x 3credit hr/course = 15 credits) for 3 semesters (see College Calendar on website) and 1 semester of 6 courses (18 credits). The maximum time is 6 years (12 semesters); for example, consider completing 2 courses per semester for 9 semesters (54 credits), and 3 courses for the last 3 semesters (9 credits). Besides reading course materials and writing papers, you are required to be involved in Spiritual Formation and Community Living programme whenever you are in College, and also on special College events such as the College Anniversary, Graduation Day, etc.
5. What is the time table schedule like?
Generally, courses are conducted in one session, each session is a time slot of 3 hours (either morning 8:30 - 11:20 am; or afternoon 2:00 - 4:50 pm). Each semester's time table will be made known at the end of October/April. 6. Are there evening classes in the BD/MDiv/MTS programs? There are no evening classes conducted for BD/MDiv/MTS in general. 7. When can I join the College? When does the new academic year begin?
Each new academic year begins in July where new students are enrolled. The due date for BD/MDiv/MTS application (including all required documents) is 28 Feb for Singaporeans/Malaysians; and 31 Jan for others. If you miss the 1st semester, you can consider taking up courses (recommend at most two) as an occasional student in the 2nd semester (Jan-May). We have both English and Chinese departments, and you can choose to study in one of the two media. 9. I would like to apply for TTC scholarship, how can I go about this?
TTC does not offer scholarship to new applicants. But refer to Scholarship to see whether you are eligible. Please note that the Mustard Seed Foundation Theological Scholarship (MSFTE) is only for current students, not potential applicants. 10. Is the subsidized rate applicable to international students?
Yes, the subsidized rate is applicable to all students. Also, check Financial Information for details. 11. I have done some theological studies in another College, can I transfer credits to TTC if I am accepted?
The Dean of Studies will need to assess your transcript for credit transfer. You will have to provide: (1) transcript; (2) course description; and (3) course syllabus. Also see Rules & Procedures for Validation tests and Credit Transfer segment. 12. What are the Track offerings in the BD/MDiv programme? What are the Core, Required Track and Elective courses? The BD/MDiv programme offers 3 tracks: pastoral, mission and theological only.
