This website on "Developing Methods for Studying Congregations in East Asia" comes out of the course content I offer to fresh MTh students in the Christianity in Asia concentration, many of whom have had little exposure to a research environment.

Fear not! Historical and mission research in Christianity in Asia can be fun, relevant and rewarding.  The purpose of this website is to accompany you in acquiring research skills and fundamental concepts that you can (on short term) come up with a MTh thesis at the end of your first year of study, and (on longer term) in enabling you to develop skills and outlooks that you can build up historical studies in your seminary when you return home.

There are three components in this exercise:

1. Skill development 2. Learning historical methods from great masters 3. Methodologies

By the end of this journey, you will be able to

1. gain hands-on experience in methodologies in congregational studies
2. be familiar with research tools and skills used in historical research
3. be familiar with the requirements for producing a master/doctoral thesis.
