CSCA: Glimpses from the Diocesan Digest on the Diocese of Singapore in the mid 1970s

Compiled by Keith Leong and Michael Poon

From 1974 to 1975, the Diocesan Digest, a monthly magazine published by the Diocese of Singapore, featured articles on the histories and current ministries of the parishes in the Diocese. This series of short articles, written by the Diocesan clergy, is important for two reasons: (1) they reflected how the clergy interpreted their histories and present work ten years after Singapore became an independent nation in 1965, and then was ecclesiastically separated from West Malaysia; (2) they provided a systematic survey of the parishes before Singapore churches at large were caught up in the "charismatic movements" in the eighties.  [Michael Poon, January 2007].
