CSCA Course: Frontiers in Mission Studies in East Asia

Course Description:

This course, offered by CSCA, gives an overview of the major aspects in mission studies in East Asia today. These include East Asia theologies and theological paradigms, mission histories, and the impact of social and economical policies on mission.

One semester. Three-Units. Two hours per week. Thursdays 2:00-4:00 pm.

Purpose:

The purpose of the course is to help pastors and mission coordinators to understand current issues in Christian mission in East Asia today. Such an understanding would help them to take a larger view of missionary activities, and become more effective in their conduct in mission.

Objectives:

At the end of the course the students shall be able to:

1) Keep abreast of the current scholarship in mission studies in East Asia;

2) Acquire key missiological concepts that a student is able to embark on mission research in future;

3) Identify the key issues in mission research today, and able to write a 4,000 word research paper on an area of specialization.
